About Fairdene Lodge Care Home

To us, it’s vitally important that residents feel as at home as possible, which is why thought, care, and also input from residents themselves has gone into the decoration of each and every one of our 28 bedrooms. We’re able to accommodate up to 32 people, and each door is clearly numbered. With consent, photos can be attached to aid orientation.

Attention to navigation around the home is a priority that runs throughout Fairdene Lodge, with all 5 reception rooms individually themed so that residents can enjoy different surroundings.

Reception rooms are also furnished with dementia friendly rummage boxes, book cases, hat stands and areas of interest. These include vintage style items to trigger memories of one’s past.

Rooms

It’s our priority to make sure residents feel happy, comfortable and at home, so plenty of thought and care has gone into the design and decoration of each and every bedroom at Fairdene Lodge. Comprised of 24 singles and 4 double rooms (of which 12 are en suite), all our rooms have a 24hr call bell.

Our comfortable accommodation is tastefully decorated, and designed to allow our staff to provide high standards of care. Wall mounted LCD TV’s are installed in each room, meaning that residents always have the option to enjoy a quiet afternoon of television in the comfort of their own rooms.

Health Care

It goes without saying that healthcare is a very important part of life at Fairdene Lodge, with a variety of medical needs being catered for in a discreet and respectful way every day. We’re proud to have an excellent relationship with local healthcare providers, including a network of GP’s, who work with us to give us everything we need to look after our residents. Residents are supported to access routine medical services, such as opticians and dentists.

We also regularly welcome Brighton and Hove in-reach team, consisting of specialist dementia nurses and occupational therapists, who provide valuable advice and support to staff, residents, and families.

Our focus is very much on person centered care, looking after each of our residents as individuals to ensure the very best care and as much independence as possible.

Catering

Meal times are hugely important at Fairdene Lodge, and we make it a priority to consistently support and encourage our residents to eat and drink well, involving them in their meal options. Nutritious, varied meal options are created every day by our talented chef, which means there’s always something tasty to look forward to. We understand that many of our residents have special dietary requirements, and we ensure these are always catered for.

Residents are free to eat in the dining room or in their rooms, with staff on hand to provide choice and explanation surrounding the food if required.

Activities

Residents choose how to spend their day, and there’s a wide range of activities available to them, including singing, films, exercise, arts and crafts, and themed events. Reminiscence sessions are held to encourage residents to remember their pasts, and meetings are often held to continually improve the activities programme.

Outings and walks are regularly arranged, and we always try to support individual’s hobbies and interests outside the home where possible.

Visitors

Fairdene Lodge operates an open door policy, which means friends and relatives are welcome to visit at any time. We believe in making life for the residents as free as possible, which means receiving visitors when it suits them, just as they would at home.
