At Fairdene Lodge, our number one priority is the health and wellbeing of our residents and therefore we need to protect them, as one of the most vulnerable groups of contracting the COVID-19 virus. The health, safety and wellbeing of our residents and team is of paramount importance. As such, we are committed to doing everything we can to keep them safe.
We have the strictest control measures in place and we are working closely with all the relevant bodies, including NHS and Public Health England, as we implement our comprehensive contingency plan.
In line with Public Health England to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 and to protect those most vulnerable, as from 12-04-21 we will be allowing two designated family members per resident. The visits will be booked via our website or by e-mail on a first come first save basis. There are two slots available per day at 2pm and 3pm. Children under 16 will not be permitted to accompany.
All visitors will be asked to walk through the antiviral dry mist tunnel before entering where they will have their temperature reading.
All visitors will use the anti-bacteria gel by the gate and complete a COVID-19 questionnaire. A Lateral Flow (LFD) test will be carried out by themselves or by a staff member and the visitor will be required to register their LFD test on the government website.
All visitors must be wearing the face mask before entering the building and will be asked to wear PPE supplied by the home before meeting their relative. The arranged visit will take place in the garden tearoom/conservatory (as they choose) using social distancing guidelines. The resident should sit 2 metres apart from their visitor, they can hold hands. Visits must not exceed 45 minutes. Visitors will not be permitted to use the toilet facilities in the home or walk around the undesignated area of visiting.
Care staff will take gifts and put them in their rooms. Any refreshments will be served in disposable cups and no food sharing will be permitted. After the visit, the visitors will be asked to remove their PPE and wash/gel their hands before leaving the premises. Residents’ hands will then be washed by staff. Staff will supervise all visits at a distance in case the resident gets agitated or distressed.
We have a designated isolation room for any residents experiencing symptoms with entertainment and their own carer where we can look after them until we have confirmation of a positive or negative case.

We will continue to care for our residents and keep their families updated while working with all the relevant bodies during the Coronavirus outbreak
Our sole objective with this measure is to protect our residents, however we understand the importance of maintaining communication with their friends and family. Therefore, we will be arranging limited visits and video calling for anyone who wants it.
We will continue to monitor the situation on a daily basis and follow guidelines set out by Public Health England to ensure the protection and wellbeing of our residents.”
